Lady in Red

New Zealand's preferred Cripps Pink sport

First Discovered in Hawkes Bay, New Zealand

Lady in Red was found as a branch mutation on a Cripps Pink tree in 1996 by orchardist Basil Mawley in his orchard in the Hawkes Bay, New Zealand.

Variety description

Lady in Red is a high colour, very stable mutation of Cripps Pink with high coverage of the same bright pink blush.

It matures one week before Cripps Pink, with good early colour development.

The high colour nature of this variety means that Lady in Red orchards have high packouts and improved profitability over Cripps Pink.
